Factbird supports measuring power or current with an analog CT clamp solution. The following guide instructs how to set up and configure the sensor in the cloud. Please start by following the general configuration guide for analog sensors: Set up an Analog Sensor

Clamp-on energy meter configuration

In the sensor settings, go to the “Sensor setup” tab

4) Set the sensor input range

Set the input range of the sensor. To set this, we need information from the specific CT clamp. The rated value can be found the label on the sensor itself (maximum value). How to fill out the fields*: A current sensor has an input range 0 to 20 A. In this case the minimum value 0 is entered and the maximum value 20 is entered (see image below)*

4) Set a data multiplier

Per default, the CT clamp will output the measured current on the cable it’s hooked up to. If this is the value you wish to display in the application, there is no need to set or enable the data multiplier.

If you wish to display the power consumption (kW and kWh) you will need to set the multiplier according to the voltage running in the measured power cable.

Example: The CT clamp is hooked on to one phase of a 230 V cable. To turn this measurement into a power reading (kW), the electrical current must be multiplied by the voltage of the cable and divided by the magnitude 1000. This follows the current formula:

kW = (currentvoltage)/1000 .*

In the example below we have entered 0.23 as the current sensor is hooked onto a 230 V cable. Please consult your electrician to get the exact voltage for your region and plant.
